04/12 - Final results have been posted. We also included the team name and city for each rider. Big thanks again to all the folks who traveled all the way from Southern, Eastern and Central Oregon - and the Coast - to do this race. Hope to see you all back next year!

04/08 - Thanks to everyone who came out to North Plains last Sunday to race or spectate the 3rd edition of the Horning's Hustle MTB Classic. What a beautiful day and what a great race! We counted close to 230 racers and we saw a lot of new faces.

I like to give special thanks to all the volunteers, who helped pull off the best Hustle to date. Also a big thanks to our title sponsor Cyclepath and our other generous sponsors Chris King, Hopworks Brewing and Tom's Home Team. Also thanks to Bob Horning for providing this great venue. Finally, a major shout to the fine folks of PUMP for serving hot food and beer and helping out with building and prepping the course. If you care about trails and trail access in our region, you might consider joining PUMP as a member or showing your support by joining their facebook group. PUMP is currently going through some exciting changes and they need all the support they can get.

There are some great action shots of Sunday's race posted by Oregon Velo and Jose "Brujo" Sandoval. Pat Malach over at Oregon Cycling Action also posted a nice report of the pro race.

Next up - just a little over 2 months away - is the Portland Mountain Bike Short Track Series at PIR. This year, we will go for 7 consecutive week, starting June 22 and ending Aug 3. Look forward to more details and some exciting news about that soon.

Cheers,
~Kris

On Sunday April 5th, Portland Racing is bringing the Oregon MTB Series close to town with the third edition of the Horning's Hustle Mountain Bike Classic.

This early-season mountain bike race will be held at Horning's Hideout, located in the forested foothills just outside North Plains (only a 35' drive from downtown Portland).

More something like a MTB circuit race than a traditional XC MTB race, riders will do multiple laps on a 5 mile course featuring a lot of up and downs over fire roads, primitive cat tracks, some single track descents and grassy pastures. Add to the mix a couple of "huckable" logs, a creek crossing (featuring a bridge of sorts) and a clover leaf course lay-out, and you know you're in for a lot of fun. Check out this year's course map (and last year's course map) to get a rough idea of what we are talking about!

The compact course should make for a spectator-friendly race, so bring your friends and families. Like in previous years, we will also have live music, hot food, a free post-race beer for all racers 21+ and - if needed - a bonfire to keep everyone warm. In good tradition, we'll close the day with awards and we'll raffle off a bunch of cool prizes.

So dust off your bike, start hitting the trail, and join us on Sunday April 5th to kick off the season in style!
