2012 Updates

07/31 - A heartfelt "THANK YOU" to everyone who participated in our final raffle for Mat Barton and to all teams who contributed through participation in the team relay. During the last five weeks, we raised $8,629 for Mat at Short Track! About half ($4,315) was raised last night alone - nothing short of phenomenal! Mat and Jessica came out yesterday to watch the Singlespeed race and cheer on their friends and they expressed their thanks for the outpouring of support. This surely has been a great testimonial of the wonderful sense of community and camaraderie that has come to define the Portland Short Track Series, something that makes us all very proud!
If you bought a raffle ticket but were not able to hang around for the actual raffle, make sure to check here if you are among the 4 lucky winners who were not present to claim their grand raffle prizes.

07/31 - What a great night yesterday to wrap up the 2012 Short Track Series! The weather was just perfect, we set a new one-night record of 477 racers, and the ultra short track team relay seriously rocked, with some wild exchanges and a wonderful ending when hundreds of people started cheering on the last relay racer on the course. Priceless!
Results of yesterday's races and final series standings and results of the Ultra Short Track Team Relay race have been posted. One podium correction: in the Cat 2 Men 45+, Tom Strodtbeck finished second and Chris Streight finished third. Congratulations to both Tom and Chris and our apologies for the mix-up during the awards ceremony.

07/22 - Get ready for the OBRA Short Track Championships 2012, which will take place on Sunday August 12 at the all-new easyCLIMB trail system in Cascade Locks (right along the Columbia River). The course will feature a great mix of singletrack and double track, a bunch of banked turns and rollers, and a ton of fun. Check out the stop-motion preview video of the race course:

7/20 - Check out the winners of our Casual Summer Race Outfit Contest (all winners will get a 4-pack of the all-new HUB pounders) and our Kiddie Short Track Coloring & Doodle Contest (all six winners will receive a copy of the real cool Bike Parade! coloring book by local artist and short track regular Tomas Quinones).

07/16 - Thanks to everyone who dressed up (or rather down) for last week's Summer Casual contest. While we are still deliberating on the winners in each race heat, we already posted a bunch of sweet shots on flickr.

07/10 - Thanks to everyone who headed to Hopworks yesterday and joined us at Dine Out Day for Mat! Both HUB locations saw plenty of racers and families coming in for pizza and beers, resulting in a total of $3,000 raised for Mat's recovery fund. Major thanks to our title sponsor Hopworks for all their support!

07/06 - After taking a mid-series break - and enjoying a fun day on the mountain at the Six Hours of Mt Hood (check out the great podium and finish line shots we just posted!) - we hope you're all ready for another four weeks of Short Track racing at PIR! With the weather forecast for Monday calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the 80's, we thought it was time to dress down for our Summer Casual Race Outfit Contest. Leave the lycra at home and come race in your "Monday best" casual threads: oversized surf trunks, colorful skirts, double-rainbow tie dye tees, knitted socks,... anything goes! We'll have cool prizes for the most authentic male and female "summer casual racer" in each race heat!
