Portland's most popular summer bike race series (for young and old, novice or hardcore racers, mountain or cross bikes) is upon us and will kick off in just over 4 weeks! Click here for all the details of the 2017 series!

UPDATE: our ever-popular Short Track Series Pass will start selling on MONDAY MAY 15 (starting at Noon)!
Series Pass holders will enjoy a weekly priority call-up at the start of their category in the order they have registered.
In addition, the top-5 riders in the series standings in each category will get a priority call-up, starting at race # 3. So, purchase yours today and get your name added to the top of the call-up list!

08/02 - What a great night we got treated on yesterday to wrap up the 2016 series! 07/31 - Check out the call-up list for our final night of racing and the podium contenders in each category. Stil a lot of podium spots that are undecided (the Singlespeed Men even shows Seth Patla and Ryan Weaver locked up in a near dead heat), so look forward to some hard-fought battles for short track fame and glory!

07/28 - Okay, we now have officially 23 teams signed up for the Ultra Short Track Team Relay at next Monday's Series Grand Finale!

07/25 - Check out the call-up list for tonight's races and the winners of our weekly raffle! Come out tonight for another blissful night of short track racing and/or spectating. And bring your friends and family to make the summer party complete! As usual, we'll host free kids races (start at 5:30 under the trees), our food station will serve free delicious Dave's Killer Bread PB&J sandwiches and ice-cooled water. And the PIR concession stand will be serving HUB beer and a host of other beverage/food items.

07/22 - This Monday - with the support of longtime short track series sponsor Cyclepath - we are staging our annual Pedal-to-the-Metal Holeshot Night, where racers in each category will get a chance to reach for fame and glory within the first minute of their race, by beating their competitors to the line at the "Cyclepath Holeshot".

The Holeshot will be located about 250 yards down the start shoot, where the course dives into the trees (pro-tip: pre-ride the course before your race to find out the exact location of the holeshot). The Holeshot winner in each category will receive a $20 Cyclepath gift certificate, a Short Track pint glass, and bragging rights that won't expire until next year's Short Track Series!

So, join us this Monday and show us what you got in terms of raw start line explosiveness, anaerobic horse power, and sheer determination to become this year's Monday Night Short Track Holeshot Champ!

07/16 - Check out the call-up list for this Monday's STXC # 6 with the 200+ racers who purchased a series pass and the top-5 series leaders in each category (who will receive a priority call-up). It looks like we will get treated to more perfect race weather (as usual, expect clouds to burn off in the afternoon and a nice summer breeze picking up),, so invite your friends to come out, cheer you on, and make it another beautiful Mondaynight at PIR!

07/14 -Yay, another great "Summer Casual" Short Track Night" on the books! Racers last Monday got treated to some gorgeous summer race weather, another super-rad course, and free iced coffee generously provided by Nossa Familia Coffee. Thanks to everyone who came out to kick off the second half of the 2016 series e and a special shout to all of you who dressed down for the occasion.

We finally got done sifting through the 1,000+ race photos we shot on Monday (they are all posted in high-res on the Portland Racing facebook page) and we have some winners! Check out the Summer Casual 2016 photo album below to find out who received our "summer casual certified" stamp of approval (good for a pat on the back by your fellow racers),  who earned a "special mention" (good for a loaf of Dave's Killer Bread or a pack of Bob's Red Mill steel Oats), and which seven racers won the award for "Best Casual Race Outfit" in their race heat (good for a very cool Portland Design Works Birdcage, a PDW Shiny Object CO2 inflator, and a Short Track trucker hat). PDX Short Track 2016 - Summer Casual Race Outfit Contest

07/11 - After enjoying a mid-series break and a great edition of the Six Hours of Mt Hood, we're getting back in the groove this Monday with our annual "Summer Casual" Race Outfit Contest (brought to you by Portland Design Works) and FREE iced coffee served on site by Nossa Familia Coffee!

Leave the spandex at home and come race in your best Summer Casual race outfit. To get an idea of what we're talking about and get some inspiration for Monday, check out last year's winner photos. The most original/hilarious outfits (male & female) in each race heat (*) will win a very cool Portland Design Works price package and a short track hat! So get the creative juices flowing and think beyond just cut-off jeans and t-shirts.... anything goes, as long as it doesn't weird out the kiddie racers!

To top it off, we have a killer deal for the last 4 short track races: our Rest-Of-Series Pass will sell for just $60 for adult racers and $30 for junior racers! (And, yes, we now accept credit cards at the races, at no additional fee).

(*) Judging of the casual summer outfit countest will be done based on the photos we will take during the races and any photos racers or spectators like to submit (just send them to casual@portlandracing.com and we will post them on our site and on social media).

06/28 - What a beautiful night and what a great course to wrap up the first half of the series. Result of yesterday's races are up and there is another great recap with some action shots posted on the Broken & Coastal blog.

Next week, we will swap the PIR motocross track for a full day of MTB race fun at at the SIX HOURS OF MT HOOD (this Sunday, July 3), so NO SHORT TRACK RACES ON MONDAY JULY 4.

06/20 - Happy summer solstice! Tonight, we are celebrating the arrival of summer with near-perfect short track weather (sunny skies, highs in the 70s and a nice afternoon breeze). Here is the call-up list for tonight's races (this week, we'll start doing priority call-ups for the top-5 series leaders in each category). Also, check out who among your friends and team mates is among the winners of our weekly raffle! Every week, we'll raffle off a ton of cool prizes among all series pass holders and everyone who raced the week before, so keep coming back.

06/15 - Never raced Short Track before, but like to give it a try? Have friends who you think should give Short Track a shot?... just come out this Monday (June 20) for our special "School's Out!" Junior & Newbie Short Track Night presented by Bike Gallery and bring your friends!
- All new short track racers (who have never raced a Portland Short Track Series race before) will enjoy $10 off the regular day-of-race fee!
- OBRA will waive the $5 single-day OBRA license fee for anyone who comes out to race this Monday!
- In addition, we'll raffle off a bunch of cool prizes among all junior and newbie short track racers!

06/14 - Our second night of short track racing last Monday was a hoot! A special shout to James Ceccorulli and his crew for designing another awesome course that had a ton of flow! Also thanks to our series photographer Victor Duong for taking a ton of cool action shots.

06/12 - After a fun and summery kick-off of the 2016 series, we hope you are ready for more! Tonight, we will get treated on some cooler temps (we might even get some showers in the afternoon, which should help smoothen out the bumps and keep the dust down), we'll change up the course (including some new lines on the motocross track), and we hope to see you all out at PIR for another night of Short Track fun!

06/02 - Last night, we kicked off the 2016 short track season in full summer mode and with a course that seriously rocked. More than 300 racers (plus another 20 kids racers) came out to partake in the fun and we like to extend a special shout to the 67 riders who raced short track for the very first time. We hope you all had a great time andhope to see you back next week!

06/05 - Like our ALL-NEW fancy short track stickers? Well, they arrived in 3 colors and 3 different sizes (includling this very cute bike sticker) and we will sell them at cost ($0.50-$1.50) at the race tomorrow, along some other cool Short Track stuff like t-shirts, trucker hats and some very classy Short Track pint glasses.

06/05 - Check out the final call-up list with the 180+ racers who purchased a 2016 Series Pass and are committed to race the full series. Add another 50 racers who pre-registered for tomorrow's short track race # 1 and it looks like we'll have a great crowd to kick things off! If you're still on the fence, just come on out to race or cheer and join the fun. According to the latest weather forecast, temps will be a bit lower than today and there should be a nice evening breeze to further cool things off.

06/04 - Volunteer and race for free!
We are still looking for two extra volunteers, one to help with course set-up (from 3 to 5pm) and another one to help with course marshaling and tear down (from 7 to 9:30pm). If you are available and like to volunteer in exchange for a free race entry (or free series pass if you sign up for the whole series), just shoot me an email at kris@portlandracing.com.

06/03 - Join us tonight from 6 to 9pm at the Hopworks BikeBar (on N Williams Ave) for our Series Kick-off Social & Race Plate Pick-up!Drop by to pick up your series plate, register on-site for the series (or just for the first race), and take advantage of the first HUB short track beer special of the season ($2.50 for your first beer, when you flash your new series plate). To top it off, the first 5 teams (or groups of 4 or more adult racers) who show up will get a free pitcher of HUB beer on the house. Cheers!

06/02 - Check out the preliminary call-up list for next Monday's STXC race # 1, with the 120+ racers who have already registered for the series. There is still time (through end-of-day Saturday) to purchase our ever-popular Short Track Series Pass online and get your name added to the call-up list.
