Wed 11/26 - Thanks to everyone who came out to the farm on Sunday to race, cheer or volunteer! We counted more than 500 racers (plus another 60+ kids and doggie racers), and from what we could tell everyone had a great time on and off the course. After last year's sunny and dry edition, the mud made its comeback in style and the rainstorm that moved in around Noon made for a true "belgian-style" November cross race. To get a taste of the grit and beauty of it all, check out the amazing action photos shot and posted by racers Matthew Lasala at Lasala Images and Jonathan Maus on BikePortland.org.
A big thanks to our title sponsor West End Bikes and
our other generous sponsors Specialized, Hopworks Urban Brewing, Showers Pass, Chris King, Bob's Red Mill, Icebreaker, Nossa Familia, Rip van Wafels, Rad Dogs, Gevenalle, and Larabar.
Also a major shout to Portland Design Works for putting on the much-enjoyed CX doggie dash. Last but not least, our heartfelt thanks to Don Kruger and everyone at Kruger's Farm for the great venue and their help in making it all happen!
Results for all categories and the winners of Sunday's raffle have been posted.
In 2015, Portland Racing will again organize three unique bike races at Kruger's Farm:
the Kruger's Kermesse CX Farm Crit & Bike Relay (Sun 5/17)
the Kruger's Kermesse... Encore Farm Crit (Sun 8/30), and
the 10th edition of the Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic (tentatively Sun 11/22).
And of course, we hope you will make it out to the other popular Portland Racing events: the Portland Short Track Series (Mondays 6/1 through 7/27) and the Six Hours of Mount Hood (Sun 6/28).
So make sure to mark your calendars and start figuring out your winning winter training strategy... but first, time to relax and enjoy the holidays!

On Sunday November 23, West End Bikes and Portland Racing are bringing you the eight edition of the Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic. This fun AND epic race - a longtime favorite with racers and spectators alike - will take place at Kruger's Farm, located in the beautiful countryside of Sauvie Island (only 20 minutes from downtown Portland!).
This will NOT be your usual cross race! Besides the challenges thrown at us by the November weather gods, you can expect a wild course that will lead you along rutted farm roads, through berry fields, pastures, a barn, past a free-range chicken coop, and a giant sow named Mathilda.
Check out the course map and the photos, videos and race reports of previous editions to get an idea what we are talking about!
In the morning, Kruger's Farm Market will greet racers with free Nossa Familia Coffee and, later in the day, their food stands will serve veggie chili, baked potatoes, hot soup, and a variety of sausages and other grilled goodies. Around noon, Hopworks Urban Brewery will come out to serve free samples of their much-acclaimed Abominable Winter Ale and some other HUB classics.
In good tradition, we'll lighten up a giant bonfire along the course to keep everyone warm and toasty, we'll have DJ-ed music (and continuous race announcing by Luciano), free kiddie races (presented by Islabikes), and throughout the day we will raffle off a ton of prizes, courtesy of our presenting sponsor West End Bikes and our other generous sponsors Specialized, Portland Design Works, Showers Pass, Nossa Familia Coffee, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Chris King, Bob's Red Mill, The Lumberyard, Icebreaker, Gevenalle, and Osmo Nutrition.
Last but not least, we'll stage another encore of the Doggie Dash CX World Championship, presented by Portland Design Works and benefiting The Pixie Project. This wild cross race - sans bikes - for your four-legged friends of all stripes and colors (lycra dog team kits strongly encouraged!) is a hoot for racers, dogs and spectators alike. And we'll raffle of a bunch of great prizes courtesy of Rad Dogs, among all participants of the dog races!
