Sun 11/22 - What a fun race - on a gorgeous November day - to wrap up the 2016 Portland cyclocross season!
Thanks to everyone who came out to Kruger's Farm to race, cheer, and/or volunteer. We counted close to 500 racers (plus another 100+ kids and doggie racers) and - from what we could tell - everyone had a great time on and off the course! Results of all races have been posted on OBRA. Photos are forthcoming.
A big thanks to our title sponsor West End Bikes and
our other generous sponsors Bob's Red Mill, Hopworks Urban Brewing, Dave's Killer Bread, Showers Pass, Chris King, Icebreaker, Nossa Familia, Specialized, and Gevenalle.
A major shout to the folks of Portland Design Works for putting on the much-enjoyed CX Doggie Dash Championship, Portland Fender Company for their help with the kids races, and the great OBRA crew.
Last but not least, our heartfelt thanks to Don Kruger and everyone at Kruger's Farm for the great venue and their help in making it all happen!
In 2016, we'll be back with more bike races at Kruger's Farm, including the Kruger's Kermesse CX Farm Crit (Sunday Sep 18) and the 11th edition of the Kruger's Crossing CX Classic (Sunday Nov 20).
And of course, we hope you will come race the other popular Portland Racing events: the Portland Short Track Series (Mondays June 6 through August 1) and the Six Hours of Mount Hood (Sunday July 3).
So mark your calendars and start figuring out your winning winter training strategy... but first, time to relax and enjoy the holidays.

On Sunday November 22, West End Bikes and Portland Racing are bringing you the 10th edition of the Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic, which will double as the Portland cyclocross season closer. This fun AND epic race - a longtime favorite with racers and spectators alike - will take place at Kruger's Farm, located in the beautiful countryside of Sauvie Island (only 20 minutes from downtown Portland!).
This will NOT be your usual cross race! Besides the challenges thrown at us by the November weather gods, you can expect a wild course that will lead you along rutted farm roads, through berry fields, pastures, a barn, past a free-range chicken coop, and a giant sow named Mathilda.
Check out the course map and the photos, videos and race reports of previous editions to get an idea what we are talking about!
In the morning, Kruger's Farm Market will greet racers with free Nossa Familia Coffee and, later in the day, their food stands will serve veggie chili, baked potatoes, hot soup, and a variety of sausages and other grilled goodies. Around noon, Hopworks Urban Brewery will come out to serve free samples of their much-acclaimed Abominable Winter Ale and some other HUB classics.
In good tradition, we'll lighten up a giant bonfire along the course to keep everyone warm and toasty, we'll have DJ-ed music (and continuous race announcing by Luciano), free kiddie races (presented by Portland Fender Company), and throughout the day we will raffle off a ton of prizes, courtesy of our presenting sponsor West End Bikes and our other generous sponsors Specialized, Portland Design Works, Showers Pass, Nossa Familia Coffee, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Chris King, Bob's Red Mill, Dave's Killer Bread, Portland Fender Company, Icebreaker, Gevenalle, and Osmo Nutrition.
Last but not least, we'll stage another encore of the Doggie Dash CX World Championship, presented by Portland Design Worksand benefiting The Pixie Project. This wild cross race - sans bikes - for your four-legged friends of all stripes and colors (lycra dog team kits strongly encouraged!) is a hoot for racers, dogs and spectators alike. And we'll raffle of a bunch of sweet Castelli cycling caps, donated by The Rescue Project, among all doggie dash participants who make an onsite donation of $5 or more to the Pixie Project!
