Home | Race Course | Registration | Online Waiver | Directions, Lodging & Camping | Results 2011 RACE COURSE The course will consists of a varied, 6-mile loop that will feature some of the best trails that Skibowl has to offer, including plenty of fun, twisty singletrack trails. The estimated elevation gain per lap is about 800'. Racers will start at the Skibowl West main parking lot and from there follow the fun and twisty South Trail towards the Multorpor/Skibowl East area, where they will loop around Multorpor Mountain. Like last year, there will be a short climb on the Summit Trail, followed by a flying descend of the Powerline Trail (the reverse of the long uphill of years past). Racers will continue to loop around Multorpor using the Rhodondendron Trail, and then climb out via Optimator Trail and coast down to the bottom of the Multorpor chairlift. From there, you will follow a wider trail back towards the start/finish area, where you - or your team mate - will start the next lap. NO Horse Trail, Low Road, High Road, Gnar-Gnar, Fire-Hydrant or any of the other neverending climbs or technical descents. This course will have plenty of flow and should be fun to race, for all levels of racers! Still, according to Erik Tonkin, who designed the course, "it will not be an easy loop -- I'd say the single-track is relentless." UPDATE ON COURSE CONDITIONS (6/30) As usual around this time of the year, the trails at Skibowl are in great shape, though, due to the heavy snowfall we had this spring, there is still plenty of snow on the north-facing slopes and in some areas that are under dense tree cover. Petr and his crew have been working hard to make sure that the whole course will be rideable (they even hired a professional snow removal service to dig a clean path - like last year - along the north-facing Summit Trail). Obviously, some sections will be wet due to the melting snow, so you might consider bringing even some basic fenders. As for tire choice, all-round tires with medium sized knobbies are probably the best choice. We plan to have the course all marked and open for pre-riding by Saturday at 2pm.
